Sweet and fruity olive oil
For our production, we do not use any pesticides, insecticides or copper (Bordeaux mixture).
We aim for zero waste. At our reseller partners, our oil is sold in bulk in reusable stainless steel drums. Our 100% galega olives give a sweet and fruity oil. By choice and thinking outside the box, our fruits are harvested at maturity, to the detriment of quantity. On the cultural side, the olive tree, like any living being, needs to feed itself to grow big and strong. We must give back to him what he gives us. We practice “mushing” and mulching. This is to feed our trees and reduce evaporation from the earth. In addition, we spread rabbit compost. To fight against disease, we only practice pruning at the risk of losing the tree. Our worst enemy is the olive fly. Too many olive growers and small farmers use insecticides to fight against this scourge. The concern is that this disrupts biodiversity.
For a year since we took over the quinta, the gendarmes and the ladybugs have been reappearing. This year (2023) we are also going to make about ten (to start and not create an imbalance) bat nest boxes. The objective is simple. A bat eats on average the equivalent of a third of its weight in one day. This magnificent mammal loves flies. This insect will finally have a real enemy. We rely heavily on her to help us reduce the fall of our olives caused by fly bites.
